Did you know that the federal grants do not fully fund Head Start programs? Without the support of individuals and organizations in the community, our doors would close.

A charitable donation can help to provide early learning opportunities to our enrolled children and their families.
Financial support from you provides the extra learning opportunities to which children from low-income families normally lack access.
Head Start of Shawnee Mission relies heavily on contributions from individuals and volunteer support. The federal government requires a community match for its grants to our programs. Federal funds have been flat for the last several years, while the cost of living, transportation, and fuel continue to increase.
To meet the needs of our existing families and to add others to the program who are currently waiting and in need of our services, we reach out to you. Your partnership and support are so very important.
No contribution is too small or too large. We invite you to join us as we work to continue to bridge the gap in meeting the needs of an increasing number of poverty-level families in Johnson County. The charitable donation that you give today aids in our mission to empower children and families to success.

All donations will be acknowledged by mail with a written receipt.
If you are short on free time but would still like to be involved, consider helping out as an occasional food donor for evening family programs and meetings. Contribute a gift card from a pizza restaurant or grocery store, a meal item or healthy snack. Your support goes a long way in assisting us as we work to meet family and program needs at parent trainings and agency events. (We offer small group parent trainings at the end of a day so parents can come right after they finish work. Providing a light meal helps stretch their very limited food budget.)
Sponsor a drive for much needed agency items, such as a food drive for breakfast and snack items, a book drive, a collection for classroom art supplies, toothpaste/toothbrushes, diapers and baby wipes, or paper goods. Please check with us on what else is on our wish list this year and for more info on specific items needed!
